Green Productivity [GP] is a program focused on energy management, and implemented at Ansell's Asian manufacturing operations. Energy management at Ansell focuses on achieving the most efficient and effective use of energy and simultaneously reducing greenhouse gas emissions.

Productivity Enhancement provides the framework for continuous improvement. Environmental Protection provides the foundation for sustainability development. Sustainability is the driving force for Green Productivity.

Programs that have been implemented include the installation of equipment to recover energy from flue gas emitted from boiler chimneys as an energy source to heat water, the installation of energy efficient equipment to provide chilled water for manufacturing site cooling systems and the conversion of manufacturing site power plants to energy efficient cogeneration systems.

In the 5 year period from 2004 to 2009, CO² emissions have been reduced by 25% across all of Ansell's manufacturing facilities and a further reduction is targeted for the period 2010 to 2013.

In November 2009, Ansell commissioned a new biomass boiler system at its Sri Lankan manufacturing facility. This eco-friendly installation uses biomass material as its fuel source instead of fuel oil. This installation is the largest of its kind in Sri Lanka and at full capacity is expected to reduce CO² emissions by 15,000 tons per annum. The greenhouse gas emission reductions generated by this boiler system will also result in the creation of carbon credits or Certified Emissions Reductions (CERs) which will be available for use by the company.
