Q. What is the shelf life of surgical gloves.

A. Please be advised that the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), which regulates labeling of surgical gloves in the USA, has not established guidelines nor mandated an expiry date to be affixed to surgical gloves.

Other countries in Europe, through their regulatory body, have established expiry dates. Should you purchase product packaged for International markets, you will see an expiry date on the package; this is five years from the manufacturing date.

For your information, the Association of Operating Room Nurses (AORN) 1999 Standards, Recommended Practices, and Guidelines,recommends that packages be considered sterile unless damaged or opened.

A. All quality condoms should have an expiration date. LifeStyles Lubricated Condoms have a five year expiration date from the time they were manufactured. LifeStyles Spermicidally Lubricated condoms, three years.
