August 2025 – Ansell Limited (ASX: ANN) has announced a significant milestone in its sustainability journey: a formal commitment to achieving net-zero greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions across its entire value chain by FY2045. This long-term ambition is backed by science-based targets that have now been officially validated by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi).
Overall Goal:
Reach net-zero greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions across the value chain by FY2045.
Near-Term Targets:
- Reduce absolute Scope 1 & 2 GHG emissions by 42% by FY2030 from a FY2020 base year.
- Reduce absolute Scope 3 emissions from fuel- and energy-related activities and end-of-life treatment of sold products by 25% by FY2030 from a FY2022 base year.
- Commit that 90% of our suppliers by spend (covering purchased goods and services, and upstream transportation and distribution) will have science-based targets in place by FY2030.
Long-Term Targets:
- Reduce absolute Scope 1 & 2 emissions by 90% by FY2040 from a FY2020 base year.
- Reduce absolute Scope 3 emissions by 90% by FY2045 from a FY2022 base year.
To meet these ambitious goals, Ansell is taking action across several key areas:
- Enhancing energy efficiency across operations and maintaining ISO certified energy management systems.
- Transitioning to renewable energy in owned and controlled sites.
- Engaging suppliers to encourage SBTi-aligned target-setting.
- Designing products with lower-impact materials and sustainable product innovation.
- Expanding product end-of-life and recycling initiatives.
- Strengthening transparency through robust reporting and clear accountability.
“Reaching net-zero is one of the most ambitious goals Ansell has set in our 130-year history and one we are determined to achieve. We have already made significant progress, including reducing our operational emissions by 19%* through a multi-year investment program. The SBTi validation of our science-based targets also reflects our growing supplier engagement and demonstrates we have a clear, actionable plan grounded in both responsibility and business strategy. This is not just about reducing our own footprint—it’s about helping our customers achieve their sustainability goals too. We know that collaboration, innovation, and transparency will be key, and we’re proud to lead the way toward a more sustainable future.”
