Ansell Supply Chain Employees Serve as Judges at Enactus University Business Case Competition

Recently, three Ansell employees participated as judges for the HSBC Malaysia Business Case Competition 2018, held at Hotel Istana, Kuala Lumpur. The two-day national competition on April 25 and 26 was sponsored by HSBC Bank and organized by Enactus Malaysia.

Three Ansell employees from Global Supply Chain based in Cyberjaya were selected as judges for the semi-final and final rounds. They are:

  • Chiew Bee Yong - Senior Manager, Global Procurement – Semi-Finals Judge
  • Chen Ya Phay - Manager, APAC Global Logistics – Semi Finals Judge
  • Tan How Shoong - Director, Supply Chain – Finalists Judge

Enactus is the world's largest experiential learning platform dedicated to creating a better world while developing the next generation of entrepreneurial leaders and social innovators.

"Being a judge, I saw that each team had their own strengths and weaknesses, and deciding on the winning team was no mean feat. With only three hours to prepare, I was very impressed by the students' presentation skills which they performed extremely well under pressure," said How Shoong. "This event is a good vehicle for building up brand awareness for Ansell and hopefully we can use this opportunity to entice these young and bright university students to join Ansell after graduation. It also afforded me the opportunity to mingle and exchange ideas with senior business leaders in the industry. In fact, I reconnected with a fellow judge who was a former colleague that I had not seen for 25 years."

National competitions such as this are a showcase of how Enactus students are transforming lives and enabling progress through entrepreneurial action. From April to July of this year, Enactus teams around the world will compete across 36 countries where the quality and impact of their projects will be evaluated by business leaders, including those from Ansell, serving as judges. From each national competition one team will be selected to represent their country at Enactus World Cup in October 2018 in San Jose, California, USA.

Twenty-four local and private Malaysian universities took part in the competition, however only half of the entries qualified for the semi-final, and four universities shortlisted for the exciting final round. The four finalist teams went through rigorous preparation and made excellent business case presentations. The University of Nottingham Malaysia was chosen as the ultimate champion.

Ansell has pledged a charitable sponsorship with Enactus Malaysia to support its work and create awareness of the Company among university students who will be entering the job market. Thanks to our three Ansell judges who contributed to the excitement of the competition and represented the Company well.
