ANSELL CONTRIBUTES TO SUPERSTORM SANDY RELIEF AND RECOVERY EFFORTS

09 January 2013, Iselin NJ – Ansell, a global leader in protection solutions, announces that it has delivered thousands of products to community organizations in areas affected by Superstorm Sandy. The Ansell medical and industrial business units have made donations to aid relief and recovery efforts in New York and New Jersey.

“As a global company with operational headquarters in New Jersey, we wanted to take the opportunity to assist communities affected by this natural disaster,” said Robert Gaither, Ansell Senior Vice President and Regional Director, North America. “Ansell employees, customers and suppliers were all impacted by this storm, and we are glad that we can provide products that will be used to protect the hands of those who are helping in the community during this difficult time.”

The Ansell medical division donated products including Micro-Touch® examination gloves, which provide the protection needed by healthcare workers. Similarly, the Ansell industrial division contributed Sol-Vex® gloves, which provide protection while handling chemicals and hazardous materials, and Vantage® gloves, which offer workers superior cut protection.

“Donations by companies like Ansell truly make a difference to the communities we are supporting throughout the affected region,” said Anthoula Randopoulos, VP Philanthropic Investment at Direct Relief International. “The Ansell products will help ensure worker safety and efficiency, especially as we are entering the rebuilding phase of our relief efforts.”

Initially, the Ansell product donations were focused on reducing and preventing further damage from the storm, and protecting workers that were removing pollutants and toxins, sorting through debris to recover items of value and removing debris from open roads as well as stabilizing structures. For example, in New York, Ansell products are being supplied to workers assisting in the clean-up of flood-damaged homes in Brooklyn, Queens, and Staten Island. Additionally, donations aided the efforts of Direct Relief, which supported local clinics in NYC—clinics that treated local residents when major hospitals were forced to shut down as a result of the storm.

Ansell will continue to work with these organizations throughout the region as the rebuilding process progresses.
