ANSELL PUBLISHES NEW WORKPLACE SAFETY EDUCATION MODULES

ISELIN, NJ – February 19, 2013 – Ansell, a global leader in protection solutions, today announced the release of two new professional education modules developed to increase awareness of and education on workplace safety in healthcare. These modules include globally relevant topics focused around sharps safety and ergonomic safety for healthcare workers.

The first module, Prevention of Sharps Injuries in the Healthcare Setting, provides guidance on implementation of safety initiatives to comply with the European Sharps Directive, which is expected to become a binding Directive in May 2013. This module aims to help achieve the safest possible working environment for healthcare workers through the prevention of sharps injuries. The second module, Sharps and Ergonomic Safety in the Healthcare Setting, examines techniques for complying with regulations pertaining to sharps and ergonomic safety in North America.

Ansell has published education modules for nearly 20 years and has compiled a library of these resources, available on its website or partner websites free of charge. Most modules are accredited and offer continuing education credit to registered nurses and surgical technologists in certain regions.

“Ansell has a long-standing commitment to advancing education,” said Patty Taylor, Vice President, Professional Medical Education and Clinical Affairs at Ansell. “We recently restructured our clinical affairs department to re-energize our education offerings to healthcare workers.”

“Through these programs, our goal is to help identify and prevent healthcare associated infections, potential errors and injuries in the perioperative setting,” she continued.

Prevention of Sharps Injuries in the Healthcare Setting will be available early March 2013, via www.eorna.eu. Sharps and Ergonomic Safety in the Healthcare Setting will be available on March 1, 2013, on the Ansell website. For more information, visit www.ansell.com/education-programs.
