Ansell Teams Up with the Marine Research Foundation for Cleaner Oceans

Did you know that at least 14 million tons of plastic ends up in the oceans every year?

With plastic making up 80% of all marine debris, Ansell has joined the fight against plastic pollution by teaming up with the Marine Research Foundation (MRF) in Sabah, Malaysia.

PARTNERING FOR SAFER, SUSTAINABLE OCEAN CLEANUPS

The MRF is a non-profit research foundation whose aim is to protect marine life through science-based conservation. As part of this new collaboration, Ansell has provided cut-resistant, grip-enhancing and abrasion-resistant gloves to protect the foundation’s Plastics Project crew when they’re handling plastic waste from our oceans. Donated glove styles included our new HyFlex 11-762, a durable cut-protection glove which, aptly for a project aimed at reducing environmental waste, is made with more than 50% recycled polyester recovered from post-consumer polyethylene terephthalate (PET) bottles*.

Protecting the hands that protect our oceans

Staff and volunteers at the MRF are using Ansell's high-performance gloves during both underwater cleanups and while onboard Mobula-8, the MRF’s custom-built vessel for retrieving floating waste.

Our cut-resistant gloves protect divers' hands when collecting solid plastics and sharp waste objects from coral reefs and the seabed, while the MRF crew onboard the Mobula-8 are safe and protected handling waste on the vessel.

Together, making a difference

This partnership shows what’s possible when safety meets purpose. By supporting the MRF, we’re not only helping to clean up our oceans but also protecting the people who make it possible. Watch the video to see how our protective products helped the dedicated staff and volunteers at the MRF in their work for a cleaner and safer ocean.
